Our Voluntarism
The Team of Socio-Project traditionally distributes New Year’s packages for children, and all this is done in voluntary bases with personal funds.
During the pandemic year, the Team wanted to cheer up and to make happy children in municipalities of Kamenica and Hani i Elezit, by distributing 50 packages for each, hoping to brighten up the End of Season moments.
On 26th of November 2019 at 03.54 am the Northwestern Albania was struck by a strong 6.4-magnitude earthquake and has affected the most densely populated areas of Albania (Tirana and Durres), resulting in 52 deaths and up to 900 people injured.
As of 14 December, up to 12,181 people were reported to be living in temporary accommodation (excluding those hosted by relatives or friends): 7,383 in tents (a majority of them in spotted tents in rural areas, close to their individual houses), 4,149 in hotels, 395 in community centers and 254 in schools.
On 27th of November, displaced people have been relocated to Kosovo, with 500 residing in the Innovation and Training Park (a former German NATO military base) in Prizren refitted as a temporary camp by the Kosovo government and more than 120 individuals accommodated at Gymnasium School in Prizren. Some displaced people are housed in the Kosovo municipalities as well. Following the announcement and invitation by the Albanian Prime Minister, displaced persons outside Albania must return back to be closer to their homes as the Evaluator Team begins to assess the damage of each house/apartment separately. That is why the families accommodated in Innovative Park in Prizren, on December 11th returned in an organized way and the camp officially was closed.
PREDA Plus Kosovo team facilitated ASB Kosovo afterward emergency situation from the earthquake crises in Albania. Northwestern Albania was struck by a 6.4-magnitude earthquake on 26 November 2019. Many people were injured and lost their loved ones as well as their living places. Immediately after the earthquakes have hit Albania, the Assessment ASB Team from Kosovo, together with PREDA Plus Foundation and local NGO “Center for Development and Integration – CDI Albania”, visited the most affected areas of Thumane and Durres.
During the assessment, the Team helped citizens in the affected areas, together with local authorities and other organizations present on the field. Affected citizens from the earthquake were displaced and sheltered in Kosovo, in: Innovation Center, High School, Sports Hall and few hotels in Prizren. The total reported number of displaced in Innovation Center in Prizren were approximately 500.
